About Me
-
While I love being pushed out of my comfort zone and welcome all kinds of services, I do specifically specialize in curly hair cutting, lived in color, blondes going darker and texturizing techniques. I regularly work with long, thick and coarse hair as well as fine, aging and fragile hair.

From as far back as I can remember I have loved doing hair. Like a typical little sister, my big sister did it so I thought it was the coolest thing. After seeing my sister do her own hair and practice on me I got right to learning- cutting off my barbie dolls hair and braiding my friends hair at school. I forgot about this passion for a while, focusing on getting the grades and finding my dream college. Then, in my junior year of high school the time had come to apply for scholarships and look at schools and I realized- oh my gosh, this is expensive and I have no idea what I want to do with this. So my next question became what will my next step be if I don’t go to college. What would I not mind doing for the rest of my working life. And it occurred to me, I love doing hair! So at 18 after graduating from Kauai High School, I moved to Portland, Oregon to live off island for the first time and study Hair Design at the Aveda Institute of Portland. I moved home, took a 3 year pause with everyone else while Covid did what it did, and then started my career as a hairstylist- haven’t looked back since! Among the best decisions I have ever made.

I want to create a shame free zone in my chair.
Here are some things you never have to apologize for in my chair:
-having long or thick hair
-not having washed your hair before your appointment (same)
-cutting your own hair (although this does sometimes limit what I can do, I get it, I’ve been there, I’m not mad at you)
-coloring your own hair (again, it limits what I can do and it can also affect your hair health, but again I understand)
-talking about budget (we all have to pay the bills! And while I will charge fairly for my work there are lots of ways to adapt a service to be more budget friendly)
You are welcomed and you are loved. If you leave knowing that, then I am happy.
